In the TA bulletin (1962) Berne stated that all Games are played from one of the four existential life positions. In “Games People Play” (1964) he went on to say that Games can be constructive or destructive, depending on whether our Script is constructive or destructive. However, after stating this, he wrote almost entirely about Games with destructive payoffs describing, and naming, Games that support and reinforce self-limiting Script beliefs, whilst only, briefly, mentioning “Good Games” that result in a constructive payoff. Summers and Tudor (TAJ, 2000) re-framed Games as co-creative confirmations and suggested that Games may be played out with healthy (positive) outcomes. The workshop will explore how we can use this re-framing of Game theory to support healthier and more present centred transactions to generate the intimacy facilitated, invited and accessed through we-ness, shared responsibility and positive regard.
