The Finnish Transactional Analysis Association ry (FinTA ry) is the national organization
for Transactional Analysis (TA) in Finland. Founded in 1986, FinTA has been at the
heart of introducing and supporting TA practice and training in the country for over
four decades.

We are a small but resilient community, shaped by the people actively involved in
it. Guided by sisu—a uniquely Finnish form of quiet determination—we have grown
and adapted through changing times. Over the years, FinTA has had different
phases and areas of focus across TA’s four fields: psychotherapy, counselling,
organizations, and education, depending on our members’ interests and strengths.
Currently, psychotherapy has a slightly stronger emphasis.

From the beginning, FinTA brought together professionals inspired by the ideas of
Eric Berne. In Finland we have moved from early collegial groups and international
connections towards structured training programs and professional accreditation,
reflecting the gradual growth of TA in our country.

Today, we organize workshops and community events while supporting members
in their professional development and certification journeys. We maintain a warm,
collegial atmosphere where both experienced practitioners and newcomers can
connect, learn, and grow together. Although our number of accredited members is
still small, new training agreements are underway, promising future for TA in
Finland.

As one of the organizer of the Nordic TA Conference, FinTA warmly welcomes
participants from around the world. In Finland—ranked the world’s happiest
country nine years in a row—well-being is not just comfort, but resilience,
meaning, and connection. In this sense, sisu and grounded contentment
complement each other. The conference theme, “Where physis finds light – TA and
the quiet power of Nordic happiness,” mirrors both FinTA’s journey and the wider
Nordic context: seeking vitality, growth, and light even in the face of challenge.
